Peru - Machu Picchu Ruins - IX

At the entrance, 2nd day  We're at the entrance again, on the 2nd day. Note there are are no protecting rails behind the bench and that is quite a drop to the level of the trains below.

The old city At the right is a view, from the east, of the Watchman's Hut at the top left corner and the Temple of the Sun and House of the Caretaker of the Fountains area at the right).  Facing the latter (which would not likely have been a 'house' as it has only 3 walls) is the odd window-portal of the Temple of the Sun.

You can see the city-on-a-mountaintop aspect of the place, although only the House of the Caretaker of the Fountains has its thatched roof replaced..

We're just below the House of the Caretaker of the Fountains now. To its right (our left) is the Temple of the Sun, its rounded side clearer in this photo.
